Question : Canon or HP?
I'm looking for an entry-level monochrome laser printer; there's the HP 1018, and the Canon LPT2900, both have the same specs and the same price; so which should I get??BTW, the Canon salesman told me that the printer uses the exact same toner cartridge as HP's printer.. did he lie?Sorry, the Canon model is not LPT2900, it's LBP2900, it's the LaserShot LBP2900.Sorry, the Canon model is not LPT2900, it's LBP2900, it's the LaserShot LBP2900.

Answer #2 i go with with HP because lately HP has been doing much better than Cannon. a
long time ago, canon was better, but until hp photosmart series came out, banned
i'ts the best.Long term INK, hp last way long than canon, i had 2 Lasers and my
canon only lasted about 4 month of regular usage and the ink cost more than hp,
so i got fet up with and bought a HP, it cost less(color toner) than canon and
it last longer. it's been 8 month and it still only half way.also HP has a
faster ink drying than canon#####btw avoid lemarks (if you had a mind of it)yes
it's cheap but have you look at the inks, i'ts so $$$$i used to buy that Z60 and
the printer cost 30 and the ink cost 40. so i would just buy new printers since
it came with ink already XDif you look at the Lemarks ink for both laser/inkjet,
they are expensive compare to theirs. thats how they market! - answered by hmongthaoboi

Answer #5 HP has the best support of any printer or computer both on line and by phone.
Also, you can get a good discount on the print cartridges. I love my Laserjet
color 2480 all-in-one and I have used the service often. - answered by Doc8
Answer #6 ok, so i went to canons website and cannot find a printer lpt2900.i agree with
the others that hp is where it's at. they have great support and a track record
like you wouldn't believe. i currently own two hp laptops, an hp home computer
and an hp laser printer that stands butt high. if i have any questions they are
always an e-mail away.besides, if the hp and the canon use the same toner, can
you buy a canon to fit in the hp or an hp to fit a canon?? i have never tried.
too afraid to waste my money or even and better yet, ruin the machine.good
luckstick with hp, you can't go wrong. - answered by continentalprintingsupplies
Answer #7 They do not take the same cartridge. The cartridges are both 2K page yield.
I would lean more towards the HP on this one. The Cartridge is a number
Q2612A, they are an incredibly popular cartridge, thus when it does come time to
replace it they are easy to find and reasonably priced. They should cost under
$70. Keep in mine 2k is a really low page yield for a laser printer. you will
not get much more value than printin with an inkjet with that yeild. You may
want to explore a few more options before making your purchase. 3.5K is the
standards cartridge yeild for an entry level toner. - answered by smedrik
