Question: Any trick to continue using an almost empty ink cartridge in a Brother DCP 7010 all-in-one printer?

I remove the cartridge, give it a good shake and put it back in. I get about another 20 copies or so before it really packs up

Yeh... Erm, clearly your brain hasnt worked out that most printer software tells you to change your ink cartridges when infact they are still pretty much full - why do you think there is so much money in it?????I can usually use my ink cartridges through about 3-4 printer software low-ink warnings.So my advice: Remove the cartridge, put it back in and i bet it will probably last up until your printer asks for a new cartridge again... And then yes, you;ve guessed it! Remove it, then put it back in again, mr genius!....

Yes i would agree with the other answers already on this post, that of removing your ink cartridge and giving it a good shake and putting it back on board.You could try using any of the diagnostic tool that came with your printer, perform any one of the different utilities given to you, for eg, ink calibration tool to just give it the flow!Good luck ;)

Brother cartridges actually read fairly accurately, although it may appear that there is ink in the cartridge it will not feed ink to the print head properly, you will run the risk of destroying your print head all together. There is one trick, use it at your own risk. You can damage your printer this way. Place a small square of black electrical tape over the window of the cartridge. This is providing you have LC-21, LC-31 or LC 41 cartridges. The window is located on front of the cartridge. It is near the top of the cartdige where there is no sponge. This area will be full of ink when the cartidge is new. THis does have the potentail to destroy your print head so do it at your own risk.
