If it's still sealed it's good. Otherwise it's probably dry by now.

Answer #3
it still should be good. try shaking it. if you can hear the liquid then it should work, if not then it's probably dried up. I don't think it will effect the quality of the pictures.

Most places will not take cartridges back, so you may as well give it a whirl and print. Installing an expired cartridge will not damage your printer. The worst that will happen is that the electronics on the cartridge will no long work, or the ink will be lacking in quality

If I had to guess I would say no, but it does depend on how it's been stored. HP cartridges will still work a while after their expiration date, but eventually they are guaranteed to dry out. Dab the cartridge on a wet paper towel and see if any ink appears on it. If it does, put it in the machine and run the cleaning utilities a couple times. An old cartridge will definitely affect the quality of the prints because it will not be dispensing the proper amount of ink due to blocked nozzles. You can also try soaking your cartridge, which works for dried out cartridges. Put the copper portion in a little bit of warm water and wait for the ink to flow out.
